Bowland CAD Ltd. is the company owned by myself, Jason Merrin.
I started offering my CAD services on a self employed basis in May 2015 to provide expert freelance design and draughting services to an increasing network of clients. Bowland CAD started when I moved to the Forest of Bowland AONB, and needed to start working from home due to it's remote location.
After living in the Forest of Bowland for 11yrs, home and business have recently relocated to Wigan, where I still work remotely from my fully equipmed home drawing office, catering for clients all over the UK. I am based ideally in the North West and with the M6 motorwat just 5 minutes away, am happy to attend design meetings in person.
I am fully equipped to do video conferencing. I can share my screen with you and discuss designs, details of models and drawings in real time for fast and efficient progression of designs and drawing issue.
My engineering career starting in 1988 when I began my apprenticeship as a fitter, welder, fabricator at Clayton Commercials Ltd, manufacturing road haulage tankers.
In 1999 I was put in charge of brand new CNC/CAD/CAM machines as part of my role as fabrication & sheet metal foreman. This is why I started to learn Computer Aided Design and how my career turned towards CAD. I did my first paid CAD job in 2000, and that first client is still a client to this day.
I have extensive experience and proven knowledge of welding, fabrication, sheet metal, site fitting, etc., and I am fully up to date with all the latest manufacturing techniques including; 2D & 3D laser cutting, water jet cutting, 3D printing, etc.
My expertise, the latest 3D CAD software & the latest and best hardware combine to guarantee the most accurate and cost efficient workflow possible.
I have worked on the design of a wide variety of projects, ranging from private homes to the O² Arena, and including; major retail premises, food manufacturing plants, industrial plant, waste water treatment sites, cinemas, social housing, leisure centres, schools, banks, NHS hospitals, HM prisons and more.
Projects include; feature stairs, balustrades, balconies, fire escapes, stage & lighting equipment, spiral stairs, temporary works, structural steel, structural glazing, entrance canopies, exhibition displays, street furniture, ornamental security, bridges, roof access, water filtration, prison & bank security, etc.
